If you’ve been following me for a while, you know I’m not about overly complicated recipes.

When your gut is struggling or your nervous system is dysregulated, the goal isn’t to do more—it’s to come back to simple, nourishing foods that your body can actually handle.

This smoothie bowl has been one of my go-tos lately. It’s quick, grounding, and made with ingredients that truly support gut healing, blood sugar balance, and brain health.

I learned the base of this from a friend, and of course, added my own functional nutrition spin to make it more supportive—especially if you’re dealing with bloating, low energy, or mood swings.

🫐 Why This Smoothie Bowl Supports Gut Health + Hormones

Most smoothies are missing key pieces that actually keep you full and support your blood sugar. This one is built a little differently.

It tastes like ice cream (especially with frozen bananas), but it’s made in ay that actually supports your gut and keeps your energy steady.

It includes:

  • Fibre to support digestion and feed beneficial gut bacteria

  • Healthy fats + protein to stabilize blood sugar

  • Antioxidants to reduce inflammation and support brain function

This is the kind of breakfast (or lunch) I recommend to clients who are working on:

  • Gut health and dysbiosis

  • Hormone imbalances

  • Nervous system regulation

  • Energy crashes and cravings

    Ingredients

Smoothie Base:

  • 1 frozen banana

  • ½ cup frozen wild blueberries

  • ½ cup frozen mango

  • 1 tbsp chia seeds

  • 1 scoop hemp protein

  • ¾ cup oat milk (adjust depending on thickness)

Optional Add-Ins (highly recommended for gut + hormone support):

  • 1 tbsp ground flax seeds

  • ½ tsp cinnamon

  • 1 tsp maple syrup or raw honey (if needed)

🥥 Toppings (Optional, but worth it!)

  • Shredded coconut

  • Fresh blueberries

  • Sliced banana

  • Granola

  • Almond butter drizzle

  • Hemp hearts

How to Make It

Add everything to a blender and blend until thick and creamy.

You’re aiming for that smoothie bowl texture—something you can eat with a spoon, not drink.

Pour into a bowl, add your toppings, and enjoy.

🌿 Functional Nutrition Breakdown

This is where this bowl really shines:

  • Wild blueberries support brain health, memory, and cognitive function

  • Chia + flax seeds provide fiber and omega-3s to help repair the gut lining and support hormone balance

  • Hemp protein is easy to digest and ideal if your gut is sensitive

  • Balanced macros help regulate blood sugar, which is important for both mood and nervous system stability

Recipes like this are simple, but they support gut health, blood sugar, and overall energy.
